Mary Beth Temple: Curvy Girl Crochet

You know and love her…Mary Beth Temple is back to tell us about her newest book Curvy Girl Crochet! From costume designer to antique dealing, writing The Secret Language of Knitters, designing, and podcasting Getting Loopy, she has done it all, including raising a teenager! There is still more to come – keep an eye out for big announcements a few months down the road.

Curvy Girl Crochet has 25 patterns to fit and flatter, with designs by Mary Beth Temple, Marly Bird, Karen Ratto-Whooley, Andee Graves,  and more! Also included is text about modifying projects to fit you.  If you are going to spend the time working on a project you should be happy with the results.  Crochet does not mean boxy and ill-fitting!

I mainly sew for myself, but I’m starting to venture into yarn crafts. I’m loving all the little crocheted cardigans that would allow me to feel more comfortable in my sleeveless dresses. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of this book. It looks wonderful. (I’m not sure what the keyword is, but I hope I’ve used it accidentally 🙂 )

  2. ANetTow says:

I’m a busty girl, so crocheting anything from belly dance tops to cardigans with buttons can be a challenge to make sure everything fits and is placed well. I am sooooooo excited about this book and I was really sad that I couldn’t listen live and be a Loopy Groupie again.

  3. Judith Gellerstein says:

I am definitely curvy, and I definitely love buttons, so I would love to win a copy of this book. It was great to hear Mary Beth- I miss her podcast!

  4. Susie Moten says:

I have just begun making garments for myself, as I have always been unsure of the end result of sweaters worked up as a 2x when the model size is a small! And, I love buttons but have only used them as an accent! Thanks for your informative podcast, Marly! Miss you, MB!

  5. Domicroche says:

Whether you use buttons or not, everyone should make garments to flatter their body shapes and types. It’s wonderful that there are books out there to please women of all shapes and sizes!

I’m glad to hear MB back on a podcast… even if it is only one episode. Marly, I’m curvy like you… and I love that your pattern has decorative buttons… because the buttonholes won’t gape.

  7. Kate M says:

What a great episode.  It was great to hear from Mary Beth again, I miss her show. I am just starting with garments and I struggle with making bigger sizes. I also struggle with finding the right buttons and other closures for my piece and how to get them attached correctly.  Thanks for another great episode and a chance to win! [email protected]

  8. Theresa says:

I so want to make your orange marmelade! I loved the decorative buttons on the side! I’m about to sign up for your class on craftsy too (need to get paid first)
